About Me

photograph of David Hall

My name is David Hall, and in 2007 I reached the final 4 of BBC's successful MasterChef Goes Large, the UK's most prestigious televised amateur cookery competition, demonstrating my love and passion for British food. Based in South Tyneside, I am a dedicated champion of the North East's superb produce and British food as a whole.

Dedicating my life to food, I write articles, educate, design menus and provide a fine dining experience based on the seasons, influenced by the beautiful surroundings here in the North East of England. With close links to local suppliers and a huge supporter of Farmer’s Markets, it is my belief that the U.K. are currently producing food to rival the World’s best and it excites me to be part of it all.

I am a Chef and Presenter alongside Mark Earnden for the pioneering food road show that is Expo Chef, designed to help promote and encourage healthy eating to the community. In our work, we visit schools, farmer's markets and communities teaching people that food should be fun, easy, tasty and healthy.

I am also a food columnist for the British food specialist magazine Tastes Of Britain and the South Shields Gazette, as well as write a food Blog which demonstrates some of my recipe ideas and opinions on food. As a father, teaching children the importance of a good balanced diet, sparking enthusiasm through fun and simple food and enjoying what you eat is a huge passion of mine.
